At Sky Academy we promote an inclusive, restorative environment in which everyone is valued and respected. We set high expectations of learning for all pupils with consistent support, made bespoke to each individual child where needed.
We believe that an effective curriculum needs to be delivered by teachers who are passionate about teaching and who want the best for the children in their care. We are continually working on improving the quality of our teaching so that our children have the best learning opportunities and experiences.
We want our PE curriculum to:
We recognise that all children and young people need a solid foundation of positive mental health to benefit fully from all the opportunities that are available to them. We want our children to be resilient and mentally healthy, so that they can succeed. We firmly believe in having a healthy body AND a healthy mind.
At Sky Academy, we pride ourselves in the pure enjoyment of being physically active in order to support a healthy and active lifestyle. We do this by incorporating fun and engaging lessons, giving pupils the skills and knowledge they need in order to have fun and live an active lifestyle. This can be achieved through taking part in a variety of sports, games and learning how to maintain our strength and fitness through our gymnasium area.
We have created many strong links with other schools and organisations such as Somerset County Cricket and SASP – giving our young people the opportunities to try different activities and represent our school with pride at external events and fixtures.
