Welcome to Sky Academy!
We hope you find this website accessible and informative. We are very proud of the resilience, communication and life skills that our young people develop while they are with us. Here at Sky we take a nurturing approach to overcoming barriers to personal and academic progress – whether that be in the classroom or through activities such as Learning Through Adventure. With the right combination of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy, delivered within clear boundaries and an appropriate curriculum, our young people develop self awareness, and self-worth and the ability to self-regulate and live independently.

Sky Academy is a state funded special school for young people in years 5 – 11 who have an EHCP to support their SEMH and SCL needs. Based in Taunton our catchment of young people comes from those who live within a 75-minute drive across Somerset. At our core is a belief that every young person deserves the right to an educative experience that prepares them for adulthood and opens doors at Post 16. We do this by providing a targeted core curriculum that focuses in equal parts on literacy, numeracy, PSHCE, and PE in addition to a wider curriculum of Art, ICT, careers and LifeSkills. These areas are delivered as discreet subjects and offer the opportunity to gain a range of external accreditations as well as developing our young people’s mental and physical wellbeing. The curriculum at Sky is delivered both in and out of the classroom – with outdoor education, enrichment activities, forest school, art and development of emotional literacy and communication skills being an integral part of a young person’s experience.
Sky Academy is part of CLF Trust. Further details can be found here: https://clf.uk/
