What is personal data?

Personal data is information about you. This is information that could potentially identify you. This includes your name, date of birth, address, and phone number.

 

 

What personal data does the school collect?

The academy collects information about you including:

      • Your contact details (name, address, phone number)
      • Your date of birth and  characteristics, such as your ethnic background or any special educational needs
      • Any medical information
      • Information about your home life
      • Your attendance record
      • Your behaviour record (suspensions, etc.)
      • Your test / exam results
      • Photographs, videos, and CCTV

Why does the academy need this information?

The academy only collects and uses your information when the law allows us to. Most often, your information will be used when:

      • we need to comply with the law
      • we need to use it to carry out a task in the public interest ( in order to provide you with an education)

Sometimes, we may also use your information where:

      • you, or your parents / carers have given us permission to use it in a certain way
      • we need to protect your interests (or someone else’s interests)

 

Where does the academy store this data?

Your personal data is kept in line with our Data Protection Policy, which is available on our website. The Data Protection Policy states how the academy should keep personal information and how long it can be kept for.

Personal data is stored in various ways:

      • In a locked, safe space
      • On a computer, with strong security

Personal data is kept while you are a student at the academy. It may also be kept after you have left, however, it will only be kept for as long as legally required.

 

Who does the academy share your information with?

Unless we are required by law, we do not share any information about you without permission from you or your parents / carers.

Where it is legally required or permitted under data protection law, we may share your personal information with:

      • the Police
      • the NHS
      • health and social welfare organisations
      • exam boards
      • your Local Authority
      • your family and representatives
      • charity and voluntary organisations
