Students at The Sky Academy have enjoyed a fantastic opportunity to take part in a full‑day Microsoft coding workshop, delivered by two volunteers from tech giant Microsoft.
The workshop was designed for students with an interest in digital and technology‑based careers and provided a valuable insight into real‑world applications of coding.
Throughout the day, students developed key programming skills by learning how to code and create their own interactive games using micro:bit technology.
The enthusiasm and creativity shown by students was outstanding, and the day was a huge success, with many students feeling proud of what they had achieved.
One student commented: “I have always liked gadgets and gaming, and I want to do something like this when I leave school.”
Charlie Ennals, Careers/Personal Development lead at Sky, said: “Opportunities such as this are vital for our students, helping them to understand how skills learned in school link directly to future careers, raising aspirations and building confidence.
“This workshop directly supports Gatsby Benchmark 5: Encounters with Employers and Employees, giving students meaningful interaction with professionals from a leading global technology company and a clearer understanding of pathways into the digital sector.
“We are extremely grateful to Microsoft for supporting our students and helping to inspire the next generation of digital talent.”
